SUBJECT:
ST LUCIE UNIT 1 SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT DISCHARGE FLOW NONCOMPLIANCE COPIES TO:
R. Freche t te On February 24th and February 25,
- 1987, the eftt.uent discharge flow from the Unit 1
Sewage Treatment Plant exceeded the limit of 17,000 gallons per day.
The problem was eventually found to be a toilet with a
stuck open flush valve.
The toilet was in a rarely used and locked area in the Plant (the Unit 1
RAB First Aid Room),
which accounts for the long time taken to locate the cause of the problem.
Once
- found, the inlet valve was closed and the toilet taken out of service and a Plant Work Order was submitted to repair the flush valve (PWO PXA870580920).
The discharge flow has returned to the normal range to 'be expected for outage conditions.
