EMERGENCY, OPERATING PROCEDURE (EOP)

INSPECTION PROGRAM This is to advise you of a special inspection initiative that is in the late stages of planning.

, It wi 11 include an inspecti'on to be performed at the St.

Lucie site.

The initiative 'is entitled the "EOP

'Inspection Program."

The purpose of the inspection is to verify at selected sites that the emergency operating procedures (EOPs) are technically accurate; that their specified actions can be meaningfully accomplished using existing equipment,

controls, and instrumentation; and that the available procedures have the usability necessary to provide the operator with an effective operating tool.

The inspection program includes a

team inspection of four sites'for each of the NSS vendor

types, and the St.

Lucie site was selected as one of the four CE sites to be inspected.

The inspections are to be performed in the April through July 1988 timeframe.

The inspection team wi 11 include two or three senior reactor inspectors, a

licensing

examiner, a

human factors specialist, and the St.

Lucie senior resident inspector (Mr. G. Paulk).

The team leader for your inspection will be Mr. Perry Stewart from Region IV.

Mr. Stewart, or one of his supervisors, will be contacting you in the near future to discuss the inspection and to begin negotiating the inspection schedule.

Additional information and details of the program, will be provided by the inspection team.
