St. Lucie Unit 1 Docket No. 50-335 Proposed License. Amendment Boric. Acid Concentration-Reduct.ion f In accordance with 10 CFR 50.90, Florida Power
& Light Company (FPL) submits herewith a request to amend Facility Operating License DPR-67.
This amendment is submitted to revise the requirements for the boric acid makeup (BAMU) system.
These changes would reduce the boron concentration requirements, increase the water volume to meet the shutdown margin requirements of Technical Specifications 3.1.1.1 and 3.1.1.2 and remove the requirement to heat trace the BAMU system.
In addition, FPL has reevaluated the post-LOCA containment sump pH to assess the affects of the boric acid makeup tank boron concentration reduction on this analysis.
An evaluation documenting the analysis required to reduce the Chemical Storage Tank NaOH solution is also submitted.
This change is required to offset containment sump and containment spray pH changes caused by the proposed reduction in boron concentration.
Marked up copies of the affected Technical Specification pages are included as Attachment 1.
A Safety Evaluation in support of the proposed amendment is included as Attachment.
