In accordance with the general license issued by 10 CFR § 72.21 O for the storage of spent fuel in an independent spent fuel storage installation (ISFSI), the NRC is hereby notified that Southern California Edison (SCE) will begin the first storage of spent fuel at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) ISFSI using the Holtec HI-STORM UMAX system (CoC 1040 Amendment 2) on or after November 6, 2017-. This letter serves as the notification required by 10 CFR § 72.212(b)(1)(i).

In addition in accordance with 10 CFR 72.140( d) SCE intends to continue to apply the SONGS Decommissioning Quality Assurance Program (DQAP) which was approved by the NRC on August 10, 2015 to the ISFSI and spent fuel storage cask activities.
