JANUARY 89 1987 L-87-42 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, D. C. 20555 Gent lemen:
Re:
St. Lucie Unit 2 Docket No. 50-389 Appendix R Deviation 83-57-Ol item A To resolve fire protection Deviation 83-57-Ol Item A, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) requested a walkdown at the site with the NRC.
The walkdown identified the specific areas where the deviation existed and the options available to correct the deviation.
By letter (L-86-270 dated July 3, l986), FPL provided a preliminary plan to correct the deviation, and a schedule for the engineering of the proposed corrective actions.
The plant change/modification package has been developed to resolve this issue and has been turned over to the plant for implementation.
A description of the final resolution is attached.
FPL intends to complete implementation of the plant change/modification prior to start up of St. Lucie Unit 2 for Cycle 4 scheduled for Fall l987.
Very truly yours,

Breaker racked out by operating procedures
- valve can be operated manually by hand wheel for cold shutdown.
A portion of our scope to the NRC was to provide conduit support wrap for those conduits being protected in the Cable Spread Room (CSR).
An evaulation of the cables protected in the CSR revealed that they were subsequently removed or modified such that credit is no longer taken for any cable wrap in this room.
Disposition of these cables is shown above.
