Docket No. 50-335 ISI Relief Re uest No. 8 By letter L-86-4I I, dated October 29, l986, Florida Power 5 Light Company (FPL) submitted Relief Request II8, along with other inservice inspection relief
- requests, for St. Lucie Unit I.
Relief Request j18 requested relief from the volumetric examination requirement of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section XI.
FPL discussed Relief Request II8 with the NRC Staff on January 8, l987.
As a result of this conversation, in addition to the alternative examination proposed in our October 29, l986 letter, FPL commits to the following:
I.
If a pump is disassembled for maintenance, a radiographic examination of that pump will be performed.
The extent of,the examination will depend upon access and geometry limitations.
2.
Part of one weld on one pump at St. Lucie Unit II2 will be ultrasonically examined during the refueling outage scheduled for Fall I 987.
This examination wilI be per formed using the best current technique as determined by FPL to determine the feasibility of performing future examinations.
