SUBJECT:

REACTOR COOLANT PUMP SEIZED ROTOR In our review of your submittal of August 31, 1982 (L-82-381) dealing with the reactor coolant pump seized rotor with loss of offsite power at St. Lucie Plant, Unit No. 1, clarifying information was required.

This information was obtained by conference call on November 7, 1983.

Since this additional information will be a part of the bases of the staff's safety evaluation, it will need to be formally submitted to the NRC.

At the end of the conference call it was agreed with Mr. Ron Stevens of your staff that we would ask that the information discussed in the conference call be formally submitted.

This letter constitutes that request.

The submittal should be made by January 13, 1984.

If that date cannot be met, please provide us with one that you can meet.

The information requested in this letter affects fewer than 10 respondents; therefore OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
