't FLORIDA POWER 4 LIGHTCOMPANY January 8, 1980 L-80-5 Mr. James P. O'Reilly, Director, Region II Office of Inspection and Enforcement U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 101 Marietta Street, Suite 3100 Atlanta, Georgia 30303

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

Re:

RII JPO St. Lucie Unit'2 Docket No. 50-389 Florida Power 8 Light Company has reviewed I. E.Bulletin 79-25 regarding the use of Westinghouse BFD/NBFD relays in safety-related systems.

While the Nuclear Steam System Supplier indicates that these relays are not utilized in their supplied safety-related equipment, the Architect-Engineer is engaged in a review of safety-related equipment orders for St.

Lucie Unit 2.

The results are expected to be available by March 15, 1980.

If the Westinghouse BFD/NBFD relays are used in St. Lucie Unit 2, they will be either replaced or a program similar to that described in the bulletin will be initiated.

Very tr

yours, Vice President Advanced Systems
