This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by S. G. Du Pont and
D. E. Hills of this office on August 29 through Octob~r 10, 1989, of activities
at Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, authorized by NRC O~erating .
Licenses No. DPR-19 and No. DPR-25 and to the discussion* of our findings with
M~. E. Eenigenburg and others at the conclusion of the ins~ection.
The N1closed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined duririg
the insp~ction. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
~xamination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
int~rviews with personnel.
During this ins~ection, certain of your activities appeared to be in violation
of 'NRC requirements, as described in the enclosed Notic~. A written response
is iequired which also specifically addresses the inspectors' concerns described
in Paragraph 4.c of the enclosed report. In accoidance with 10 CFR 2.790, of
the Commission's regulatjons, a copy of this letter and. the enclosure(s) will
be plated in the NRC Public Document Room.
Th_e responses directed by this letter and the accompanying.Notice are not
subject to the clearHr1ce procedures of the Office of Management and Budget
as required by the Paperwork Reduction fl.ct of 198_0, PL 96*511.
