FEB 2 2 1989 NRC Region III recently received an allegation pertaining to a fitness for duty issue at the Braidwood and Dresden Stations.

The enclosure to this letter describes the allegation (RIII-88-A-0147).

We request that the Commonwealth Edison Company fully analyze the allegation, initiate an appropriate investigation, and take all actions you deem appropriate.

We also request that the results of your review and disposition of 1this matter be submitted to us within 45 days after receipt of this letter.

The enclosure to this letter should be strictly controlled and distribution limited to personnel only with a 11 need-to-know 11 until your investigation of the allegation has been completed and reviewed by NRC Region III.

The enclosure to this letter is considered as Exempt from Public Disclosure in accordance with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2.790(a).

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter, excluding the enclosure, will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.

The responses directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
