This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by S. G. Du Pont,
P. D. Kaufman, D. E. Jones, D. R. Calhoun, and D. E. Miller of this office
on May 10 through July 13, 1988, of activities at Dresden Nuclear Power
Station, Units 2 and 3 authorized by NRC Operating Licenses No. DPR-19 and
No. DPR-25 and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. E. Eenigenburg
and others at the conclusion of the inspection *

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in violation
of NRC requirements, (paragraphs 4 and 5), as described in the enclosed Notice.
With respect to the item specified in paragraph 4.p., the inspection showed
that ~ction had been taken to correct the identified violation and to prevent
recurrence.
Our understanding of your corrective actions are described in
Paragraph 4.p of the enclosed inspection report. Consequently, no reply to
the violation is required and we have no further questions regarding this
matter at this time.
With respect to the item specified in paragraph 4.d of
the enclosed inspection report, your staff will be notified of an enforcement
conference to discuss the details of this event and your. proposed corrective
actions to preclude further violation of your license.
Following the
enforcement conference and further NRC considerations, you will be notified
of our decision regarding any enforcement action for this event.
No written
response is required pertaining to this event until you are notified of further
NRC action.
