SUBJECT:
OUTAGE IGSCC INSPECTION PROGRAM* AT DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION UNIT 3 (TAC NO. 66619)
In your letter dated October *15, *1987, you submitted *'the IGSCC inspection plan for the Dresden 3.refueling outage in 1988.
Based upon a preliminary review, and discussions with.CECo (held during conferenc~ calls on February 5 & 9, 1988), the NRC staff determined.that the inspection plan described is consistent with the r~quiremerits of Generic Letter (GL) 84-11.
However, the***
scheme for expanding the inspection sample, when new flaws are found, does not comply with SL 84-11. Consequently, the staff has determine~ CECo's proposed alternative sample expansion scheme is not acce~table without some further justification. Since you have already completed your inspection and found no IGSCC indications *in any of, the piping welds exam,ined, this proposed alternative sample e~pansion SGheme had no impact on.. your 1988 outage inspection. Any subsequent programs submitte~ *far future outages at either
- Dresden Unit Nos~ 2 *or 3 should address this concern.
