June 4, 1987 letter from P.C. LeBlond to us NRC Gentlemen:
The referenced letter provided the NRC staff with notification of Commonwealth Edison Company's intent to utilize the Bechtel Topical Report, BN-TOP-1, testing methodology at* the Dresden, Quad Cities, and LaSalle Stations.
The purpose of this submittal is to extend this flexibility to the remainder of Commonwealth Edison Company's nuclear stations.
There has been considerable discussion recently regarding the acceptable test methodologies for performing a Type A containment integrity test in accordance with 10 CFR 50, Appendix J.
As a result, Commonwealth Edison Company is providing this clarification of our intent.
Commonwealth Edison Company intends to.utilize the BN-TOP-1 testing methodology as an acceptable test method at all six of its nuclear stations.
Further, it is our_understand!ng that_~N-TOP-1 has been, and continues to be, an acceptable test method to the NRC staff.
