(Resident Inspector)) on August 7 through 25, 1987.
The review was in
response to the recent feedwater transients at the Dresden Nuclear Power
Station, Units 2 and 3 authorized by Operating License Nos. DPR-19 and
No. DPR-25 with special emphasis placed on the Unit 3 event which resulted
in system damage.
The'essence of our findings were discussed with
Mr. E. Eenigenburg and others of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
The major purpose of the Augmented Inspection Team (AIT) was to perform
onsite fact finding regarding the event. Issues identified by the AIT may
be examined for possible regulatory violations in subsequent inspections.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790, of the NRC "Rules of Practice", Part 2,
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the
enclosure(s) will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room *
