NOTICE OF VIOLATION Commonwealth Edison Company Docket Nos. 50-456; 50-457 Docket Nos. 50-237; 50-249 Docket Nos. 50-373; 50-374 As a result of the inspection conducted on August 3-7, 1987, and in accordance with 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C - General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions (1985), the following violation was identified:

10 CFR 50.47(b)(8) requires each licensee to maintain adequate emergency facilities and equipment to support an emergency response.

Contrary to the above, on August 4, 1987, the inspectors toured the Mazon Emergency Operations Facility and found that controlled reference documents (emergency plans, offsite emergency organization and station procedures) and aperture cards containing plant systems drawings for the Braidwood, Dresden and LaSalle Stations were stacked on several tables and had not been properly maintained.

Unfiled aperture cards from each station were date stamped as early as March 1987.

This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement VIII).

Pursuant to the provisions of.10 CFR 2.201, you are requi~ed to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of this No.tice a written statement or explanation in reply, including for each violation:

(1) corrective action taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective action to be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.

Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
