This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Dr. M. J. Oestmann of
this office on May 8, and 12-15, 1986, and Dr. R. B. Holtzman on May 8, 1986,
of activities at the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, authorized
by NRC Operating Licenses No. DPR-19 and No. DPR-25 and to the discussion of
our findings with Mr. Scott and others of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection. Additional discussions were held by telephone with W. Johnson and
J. Knoll of your staff on May 19 and 20, 1986 regarding the sample split results
and the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program in Chemistry.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter, and the enclosed inspection reports, will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
