- In a letter dated June 26, 1985 from J. P. Knight, NRC to D. E. Dutton, Southern Co. Services, NRC concurrence with the use of Visual Weld Acceptance Crit~ria for Structural Welding (NCIG-01, Revision 2) was docµmented.
Following conference calls between our staffs, we concurred with t.he use. of th~ new criteria for weld inspections at the Dresden and Quad Cities Stations*
- provided that the next revisions of the Dresden and*Quad Cities Updated Final Saf_ety Analysis Reports (UFSAR) contained this'documentation.
-In a letter dated December 4, 1985, you provided a sample revised p~ge f6r
- the Dre~den UFSAR.
The staff has examined the sample wording and finds it.
acceptable. It is our understanding that the*next revision to the Dresde~
and Quad Cities UFSARs will contain this wording and that you are plannin~
to. implement the new inspection criteria during the current Dresden Unit 3 outage..
