SEPB J.);5 IC, 7F,e_fi We have reviewed your May 22, 1981 request for NRC concurrence in delaying the use of the ODYN transient code on Dresden Unit 2 and Quad Cities Unit No. l until the refueling analyses for the first reloads following January 1982.

The NRC staff has concluded that the requested delay can be permitted for those plants that can be demonstrated to have scram times ~ounded by the ODYN Option B scram time distribution.

Therefore, Commonwealth Edison may defer submittal of an ODYN analyses for Dresden 2 and Quad Cities 1 until.the first reload following January 1, 1982-if these plants have scram times bounded by. ODYN Option B.

Please confirm that Option B applies to Dresden 2 and Quad Cities l within 30 days from receipt of this letter.
