WITHDRAWAL OF 10 CFR 70.24 EXEMPTION REQUEST FOR DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 (TAC NOS. MA1582 AND MA1583)

Dear Mr. Kingsley:

By letter dated April 8, 1998, Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) submitted, for NRC review and approval, a request for exemption from the criticality monitoring requirements of 10 CFR 70.24 for Dresden, Units 2 and 3. On November 12, 1998, NRC published in the Federal Register (63 FR 63127) amended regulations which give licensees of nuclear power reactors greater flexibility in meeting criticality monitoring requirements. By letter dated December 4, 1998, Com Ed informed the NRC of it's desire to withdraw this exemption request.

Unless you notify the NRC thatthis information is incorrect by January 15, 1999, we will

  • consider the application to be withdrawn and close this action.
