SUMMARY

OF MEETING' TO DISCUSS A PROPOSED LICENSE AMENDMENT CONCERNING CONTROL ROOM HABITABILITY On March 13, 1997, a public meeting was held* between the NRC staff and.

Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd, the licensee) to discuss a potential license amendment concerning control room habitability. A list of attendees is provided as Enclosure 1.

The licensee discussed the background of the control room habitability calculations and the current configuration of the control r6o~s at both Dresden and Quad Cities. The licensee presented to the staff how the current des*i~n bases at both Dresden and Quad Cities meet the current regulatory requirements.

The licensee also presented to the staff th~ir proposed license amendment to change the c~lculational techniqu~s used in determining the dose received by control operators following a design basis accident. Enclosure 2 is the handout material provided by the licensee.

Following the licensee's presentation, a question and answer period was held.

The staff informed the licensee of the correct regulatory guides and section from the standard review plan to use in preparing the license amendment.

By letter dated May 19, 1997, the licensee submitted license amendments to revise the control* room radiological assessment for both Dresden ~n~ Quad
