Dear Mr. Hawkens:

I apologize, I made a transcription error in my open letter, please note:

page 2 - calculated estimate on nuclear waste storage, 300,000 metric tons plus would apply to CONUS. And on page 7 - duplicate email addresses were inadvertently introduced during a copy and paste process. I attached a Notice of Correction document with this email.

Nuclear Waste Storage Concern SSES 1 and 2 Importance: High

Dear Mr. Hawkens:

Mr. Davenport and I are concerned for our communities and our citizens. We believe the NRC is putting constituents at risk. The issues we introduced October 2016 continue today, they have not gone away. We need your help to reconcile and clarify each one through open hearings. We respectfully request these hearings to be held in the ten-mile Plume Exposure Zone or the fifty-mile Ingestion Pathway Zone of SSES 1 and 2.

We applaud President Trump's budget. We understand he included funding for Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository and plans to use these funds for the management of nuclear waste storage. Talen Energy 2018 plans called for expanding nuclear waste storage at SSES 1 and 2. Please ensure that Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository becomes a reality, and that SSES 1 and 2 do not become a waste dump.

Regards, Sabatini Monatesti & Bill Davenport

Nuclear Waste Storage & Docket ID NRC-2016-0187 Docket Nos. 50-387, 50-388 & 72-28-LT-2 In the matter of:

Susquehanna Nuclear LLC Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2 Open Letter, Posted June 2017, Corrections To: E. Roy Hawkens Chief Administrative Judge ASLBP No. 16-949-01-LT-BD01 Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555-0001`

Correction page 2, last paragraph: The sentence should read: We estimate the waste storage space requirements for SESS 1 and 2, plus the 100 or more additional CONUS sites to be about 300,000 metric tons of waste. Empire State Building about 365,000 metric tons NRC Representative, Dan Schroeder, April 27, 2016, reported that the SSES waste storage containers weigh tons, i.e., 61 rods per container, about 660 pounds per rod which equals 40,260 pounds per container or about 20 tons. Talen Energy planned to install in 2018, on a 22,000 square foot space, an additional 55 new waste storage units equaling a storage capacity of about 1,100 tons. Talen estimated, April 2016, they had between 1,800 and 2,000 tons of nuclear waste storage on site. Hence, total estimate given plan execution, about 3,000 metric tons of waste storage at SSES 1 and 2 locations. It is reported that CONUS has over 100 plants across the US, hence the estimate of over 300,000 metric tons of waste distributed throughout the US, not including military and miscellaneous waste.

According to an Empire State Building spokesperson and independent researcher John Tauranac, the Empire state Building 1

weighs 365,000 tons. In his 1995 book The Empire State Building: The Making of a Landmark, Tauranac says the 365,000 ton figure came from original architect Richmond Shreve.

New York Times, Diane Cardwell, Feb. 18, 2017, presents all of us with an additional concern, she said, But a remarkable confluence of events is bringing that nuclear age to an end, capped in recent days by Toshibas decision to take a $6 2

billion loss and pull Westinghouse, its American nuclear power subsidiary, out of the construction business. Does this mean the citizen will end up with owning the nuclear waste and the fallout from potential bankruptcies?

Correction page 7, email addresses: Due to copy and paste error some email address were presented in duplicate.
