INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-387/92-14 AND 50-388/92-14
This letter transmits the NRC.Region I inspection report for the engineering and technical
support inspection conducted by Messrs R. Bhatia and S. Chaudhary of this 'office on
March 30 through April 3, 1992, at Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station Units 1&2, and at
'he
corporate offices in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Chaudhary discussed
the findings of
this inspection with Mr. G. Stanley and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
This inspection was directed toward areas important to public health and safety.
Areas
examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I inspection report which is
enclosed with this letter.
Within these areas,
the inspection consisted of selective
examinations of procedures
and representative
records, interviews with personnel,
and
observations by the inspectors.
The quality of engineering and management involvement improved compared to the previous
SALP period.
We noted that the backlog deficiency resolution is progressing effectively;
however, continued management
attention is warranted in this area.
