We have completed our review of your request dated April 27, 1990 for approval to use ASME Code Case 1516-1, "Melding of Seats in Valves for Section III Applications,"
and Code Case 1567, "Testing Lots of Carbon and Low-Alloy Steel Covered Electrodes" for modifications during the fifth refueling outage of Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Unit 1, scheduled in September 1990.
Based on our review, we have concluded that your use of Code Cases 1516-1 and 1567 is acceptable.
Accordingly, your request of April 27, 1990 is approved.
The bases for our conclusions are contained in the enclosed Safety Evaluation.
