This letter refers to the routine safety inspection of your design
and modifica-
tion programs
conducted
by Mr. J.
M. Trapp of this office on May 8-12,
1989 and
May 22-26,
1989, at the Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station
and at your. corporate
office.
A discussion
of our findings was held by Mr. Trapp with Mr. Byram and
other members of your staff at the conclusion of this inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection
are described
in the
NRC Region I
Inspection
Report which,is enclosed with this letter.
Within these
areas,
the
inspection consisted of selective
examinations
of procedures
and representative
records,
interviews with plant staff,
and observations
by the inspector.
The inspector
found the design
change
and modification program
was being
adequately
controlled by administrative
procedures.
The station modifications
reviewed were designed,
installed
and tested
in a controlled and thorough
manner.
Within the
scope of this inspection,
no violations or unresolved
items were
observed.
No reply to this inspection is required.
