SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC MEETING On May 22, 2017, at 4:00 p.m., the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open house at the Temporary Office Location of the Limerick Township Municipal Building in Limerick, PA. The NRC conducted the Annual Assessment Meeting to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Limerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2 for 2016.

A notice of the open house was issued on April 5, 2017, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML17090A167. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC presented poster boards and handouts and met with members of the public to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of LGS Units 1 and 2 for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2016, as documented in our letter dated March 1, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17055C205). The NRC poster boards presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process and LGS performance highlights. Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of LGS Units 1 and 2 can be found on the NRC's web site at:

www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.

Members of the public, Federal and local officials, and Exelon officials attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding LGS performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
