A routine radiological safety inspection
was conducted
by Mr.
R.
L. Nimitz of
this office on July 14-19,
1985 at the Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station,
Units
1 and 2.
The findings were discussed
with you and members of your staff
at the conclusion of the inspection.
The inspection of Unit
1 and Unit 2 covered:
outstanding
items; radiological
controls organization,
staffing and training; audits;
chemistry surveillance
implementation;
process
and effluent monitor surveillance
implementation;
and
radioactive waste shipping.
Also reviewed
was the Interim Low Level Waste
Storag'e Facility.
Within the
scope of this inspection,
no violations were observed
and
no Ireply
to this letter is required.
However, it appears
that additional attention
should
be directed to strengthening
of the corporate radiological controls
assessment
program in order to ensure that site Radiological Controls
Pr'ogram
assessment
findings are resolved in a timely manner.
In accordance
with 10 CFR 2.790(a),
a copy of this letter and the enclosure
will be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
