Fire Protection Safe Shutdown Inspection Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2

This letter is to inform you of our plans to conduct an NRC special announced team inspection on February 11-15, 1985, of the Susquehanna Steam Electric

Station, Units 1 and 2, with regard to the ability to provide safe shutdown of the plant in the event of a fire.

To effectively conduct the inspection, we request that analyses, procedures and other documentation on this subject, be available at the site during the inspection.

If possible, engineering personnel knowledgeable of your efforts in this area should also be available.

In addition, we are requesting that one set of such documentation be made available to the team at the Region I office of the NRC in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, before January 25, 1986.

We previously discussed this information request. with your staff and we have made arrangements to have this information delivered to the NRC.

Your staff has indicated that a work location for the team in an area with easy access to the plant drawing files has been arranged.

Additionally, we under stand that personnel escorts will be available to allow team members ready access to all areas of the plant.'e request that you specify a member of your staff as a primary point of contact for the team to meet with at the end of each day to discuss any findings the team may have and to receive requests for additional information required to resolve any open issues.
