Oewey SUSQUEHANNA OL REVIEW, PENNSYLVANIA POWER

& LIGHT COMPANY, OKT. 50-387 and 50-388 PERKASZE ELECTRIC OEPARTMENT TELEPHONE INTERVIEW On May 28, 1980 the undersigned telephoned Mr. William Kryder, superintendent of the Perkasie Electric Oepartment (Perkasie).

Mr. Kryder has only been in his present position as superintendent of the electric department for about three months but he appears to be sufficiently knowledgeable to answer most of our inquiries pertaining to the Susquehanna OL review.

Mr. Kryder reports that Perkasie's peak load is about 6

MW and that it is a full requirements wholesale purchaser from PP&L.

The primary purpose in contacting Perkasie concerns PP&L's August 1978 report to the NRC which advised that Perkasie had requested its service from PP&L be increased from 12,000 to 66,000 volts.

According to superintendent

Kryder, this request, through no fault of PP&L, is still outstanding.

The present status of this matter is that the Perkasie ci ty counsel has not yet agreed to provide he money for a substation for this voltage upgrade.

Another problem is thai:

here is presently a hold up in ob aining the right of way to build the substation.

Mr. Kryder states that Perkasie has never been interested in participating in the Susquehanna nuclear project.

He believes that Perkasie is too small a

utility to enter such a venture.

Kryder believes that PPSL has always treated Perkasie fairly.

Furthermore he states that PP&L's wholesale rates to municipals are much better than other systems.

Respectfully submitted, L. S.

Oewey
