SUBJECT:

SUf MARY OF MEETING HELD ON MAY 14, 1980 A meeting was held in Bethesda, Maryland with the above named members of the Boiling Mater Reactor - Licensing Resolution Group (BHR-LRG).

The purpose of the meeting was to brief the staff on the organization and objectives of the BMR-f RG.

The list of attendees for this meeting is provided in Enclosure 1;

The spokesman for the BMR-LRG was thr. DelGeorge of Comonwealth Edison Company.

He began the meeting by passing out copies of a letter to Mr. Denton (Enclosure 2) dated flay 7, 1980 and the agenda and viewgraphs (Enclosure 3).

A summary was presented on the results of the organizational meeting for the BMR-LRG that was held on May 1, 1980.

The utilities 'that formed this group all have nuclear plants, with BMR's that are nearing completion of their review for a full power license.

The goal of the group is to identify open issues from their licensing reviews that are generic to the.group, form a concensus position on the issues, resolve the issue with the NRC, and apply that resolution to all 6 plants.

This will expedite the licensing reviews for these plants and minimize the use of staff resources.

The BHR-LRG has'stablished a priority list for the six plants as shown in Enclosure 3.

They have designated LaSalle as the lead plant.

They requested the staff to resolve the remaining open issues and prepare the SER'or LaSalle and then use these resolutions and SER writeups for the subsequent plants.

Each utilitywill document the resolutions to these issues in their respective FSARs.

The BHR-LRG plans to use the same approach. for resolution of requirements contained in the TMI Action Plan (NUREG-0660).
