MJambor This letter responds to your request of October 25, 1982 for additional information on the Diablo Canyon design verification program.
Me have not,prepljed at this time a document that compaies the scope, of. activi-ties currently in progress by Pacific Gas and Electric (PGRE) and by the Independent Design Verification Program (IDVP) of Teledyne as the independent auditor with the scope of activities required by the Commission Order and the NRR letter of November 19, 1981.
Copies of both documents are enclosed for your information.
Also enclosed. is a copy of Commission Paper SECY 82-414 which explains the expansion of the original seismic design effort, and a copy of the transcript of the Commission meeting on October 20, 1982 at which the paper.. was discussed The PGRE corrective action program as discussed in Enclosure 7 of SECY-82-414 is the principal reason for our determination that the design verification effort currently in progress goes beyond the Commission Order.
This program includes a review and reanalysis of'all major safety-related structures and of additional piping systems.
These matters were discussed at the Commission qeeting (see pages 3 through 7 of transcript).
