SUMMARY
OF REGULATORY CONFERENCE TO DISCUSS SAFETY SIGNIFICANCE OF OYSTER CREEK NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION ELECTROMATIC RELIEF VALVE PRELIMINARY WHITE FINDING On March 9, 2017, representatives of Exelon, the licensee for Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Plant, met with U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) personnel in the Region I office located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania to discuss the Preliminary White Finding identified in NRC Inspection Report No. 05000219/2016004, dated January 25, 2017.
The purpose of this Regulatory Conference was to provide Exelon an opportunity to present to the NRC their perspective on the facts and assumptions the NRC used to arrive at, and assess the significance of the Preliminary White finding associated with an event that occurred on September 19, 2016, related to the E electromatic relief valve failing to stroke during as-found testing.
The NRC will continue to review the information that Exelon provided during the Regulatory Conference. The NRC will issue a final significance determination letter when that review has been completed.
The attendance list and a copy of Exelons presentation are attached to this summary. A notice of the meeting was issued on February 23, 2017, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Webpage.
