This letter transmits the results of the routine resident safety inspection conducted by Messrs.
W. Cook, R. Laura, and R. Temps from March 31 to May 11, 1991, at Nine Mile Point Units
1 and 2, Scriba, New York. A summary of the inspection findings was presented
to members
of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection are described in the NRC Region I inspection report,
which is enclosed with this letter.
Within these areas,
the inspection consisted of observation
of activities, interviews with personnel,
and document reviews.
Overall performance during this irispection period was good at both units. Ofparticular note was
the professionally executed repair of the unisolable sample line leak on the Unit 2 recirculation
loop.
