SUBJECT:

SAFETY-RELATED HOTOR-OPERATED VALVE TESTING AND SURVEILLANCE AT NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION UNITS 1

AND 2 (TAC NOS.

N75686 AND N75687)

By letter dated February 5,

1992, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (NHPC) supplemented its October 10,
1990, response to Generic Letter (GL) 89-10, "Safety-Related Motor-Operated Valve Testing and Surveillance," for Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2.

The October 10, 1990, letter did not commit to fully meet the recommendations and schedule provided in GL 89-10;

however, the February 5,

1992, letter states that it is NHPC's intention to meet the schedule and recommendations of GL 89-10 as described in the Nine Mile Point Unit 1 and Unit 2 HOV Program Plans.

Therefore, we consider NHPC's response to GL 89-10, including Supplements 1 and 2, complete and TAC Nos.

H75686 and M75687 are closed.

Our review of NHPC's responses to GL 89-10, Supplement 3

(TAC Nos.

H77787 and N77788), is continuing and we will notify you when that review is complete.
