SUBJECT:
NINE MILEPOINT UNIT 2 RESTART INSPECTION MEETINGS This refers to my letter to you dated August 30, 1991, which enclosed a copy of the NRC inspection plan for Nine Mile Point Unit 2 restart, and to the telephone conversation between Mr. Joseph Firlit of your staff and Mr. Curtis Cowgill of my staff on September 10, 1991.
During the telephone conversation, Mr. Cowgill discussed the NRC's plans to conduct the exit meeting for the Nine Mile Point Unit 2 restart assessment team inspection as an NRC meeting with Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation that is open to public observation.
Immediately followingthat inspection exit meeting we intend to conduct a separate meeting between the NRC and the public to receive their comments and questions.
Since the inspection activities are ongoing, we are unable to set the specific location and time for these meetings.
However,'e intend to conduct them on the same day in the vicinityof the plant at a facility of ample size to accommodate the anticipated public attendance.
Further details willbe communicated to you and to the general public, when such meeting arrangements can be made.
