Allegation Concerning Nine Mile Point Units 1 and 2 The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) recently received an anonymous letter which alleged improper activities by workers at Nine MilePoint, primarily related to issues outside of NRC regulatory concern.
A copy of the allegation letter, with selected information concealed to protect the identity of individuals not involved in the allegation, is provided as an attachment to this letter.-
We request that you conduct a timely, independent investigation of the concerns noted in the letter and make the results of this review available to NRC within 30 days of the receipt of this letter. Further, ifany of the concerns are substantiated, you are requested to present any actions which have been taken or are proposed to resolve the concern(s),
and evaluate the issue(s) for reportability. We request that any subsequent written response regarding this matter contain no personal privacy, proprietary or safeguards information so that it can be released to the public and placed in'the NRC's Public Document Room. Ifnecessary, such information should be placed in a separate attachment which will be withheld from public disclosure.
The attachment to this letter should be controlled and distribution limited to personnel with a "need to know" until your investigation of the allegation has been completed and reviewed by NRC Region I.
The attachment to this letter is considered Exempt from Public Disclosure in-accordance with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2.790(a).
However, a copy of this letter, excluding the attachment, will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
The response requested by this letter is not subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511,
