Dear Mr. Peart:
This is in response to your
- letter, dated September 15,
- 1989, to Mr. William T. Russell, Regional
" Administrator, NRC Region I in which you requested an estimated restai t date for Nine Mile Point Unit 1
and the address of the Regional Administrator covering the State of Texas.
Regarding the restart schedule for Nine Mile Point Unit 1, a more appropriate source for this information would be the utility itself, since the completion schedule for hardware and programmatic improvements is wholly under its con-trol.
Nevertheless, it is our understanding that the utility anticipates the facility being ready to resume operations in the mid-to-late November 1989 timeframe.
- However, as you
- know, the Utility has agreed not to restart the facility without first obtaining the agreement of the NRC Regional Adminis-trator.
Several significant NRC inspections need to be completed to assemble the basis for this restart decision.
Our current inspection schedule would show 'these reviews completed in November also.
