Dear Mr. Zagame:
This is in reply to your letter of December 12, 1978 to the Chairman regarding the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation's (Nt/PC) application to construct and operate a low-level waste reduction system at the Nine Mile 1 Nuclear Station in Oswego, New York.
Since the Chairmah may be called upon to participate in the review of decisions and rulings made in connection with the subject application, it would be inappropriate for him to comment on the matter.
Accordingly, it is my pleasure to respond to your letter.
The question, raised in your letter, of NRC hearings regarding the NIPC proposed low-level radwaste reduction system is presently under consider-ation.
Me will advise you of any decisions in that regard at the time they are made.
In the interim, if I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to so advise me.
