Dear Dr. Morris:

In the Technical Specifications for Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, paragraph 4.3.3(d),

we were required to conduct a

primary containment integrated leak rate test within 12 months, plus or minus 8 months, of initial criticality.

This test was conducted on June 27

+ 28, 1970, (initial criticality was September 5, 1969), therefore within the time requirement.

We are pleased to report that at 22 psig, leakage by the reference method was 0.56~~ of the contained volume.

The validity was checked at 0.57~ by pump-back.

Inasmuch as the allowable operational leak rate has been established as 0 '7~a from initial test data, the present test is well within allowable limits.

Enclosed are forty (40) copies of the test for your distribution.

Compliance with Technical Specifications would require the next testing of the containment during mid-1972.

Very truly yours, F.
