This is in rep+~ to Ih . Roger BvgdIs letter of February 29, inviting our comments on i/iagara IIohamk Po~rer Corporation's letter regarding its proposed environmental monitor'ng program for the Bine YIile Point iIuclear Station, Petr York, Docket No. 50-220.

Ve are pleased to note that the applicant plans to conduct periodic environInental studies in the vicinity of the plant both before the start of plant operation and for at least t:ro years after initial plant operation, regardless of the radioactivity discharge level from the plant. Ue are also pleased to note'hat the applicant

~rould make any appropriate revisions in the surveillance program or plant operations as found necessary on the basis of the data obtained from these surveys. t?e request that copies of the resu1ts of these surveys be provided to the Secretary of the Interior as soon as the data are compiled.
