Re:
Nine Mile Point Unit 1 Docket No. 50-220 Your letter of December 19, 1973 requested information concerning the dynamic effects of relief valve blowdowns in the torus chamber at Nine Mile Point Unit 1.
The attached table gives a summary of all electromatic relief valve actuations.
The information on the table is separated into six-month periods starting with.the initiation of the facility startup tests.
For each occurrence the method, of actuation and the reason for oper-ation is included.
The information on the table also covers the period from the initial startup through. December 1973.
Future relief valve operations will be reported in'the semi-annual operating reports.
A proposed Technical Specification change including a Limiting Condition for Operation and Surveillance Requirements will be submitted by February 19, 1974.

Periodic testing of relief valve automatic actuation is performed at least once during each operating cycle as required by Technical Specification 4.1.5.
Automatic actuation testing includes opening of the pilot valves but no movement of the relief valves themselves.
