20545 Re:

Nine Mile Point Unit 1 Docket No. 50-220

Dear Mr. Giambusso:

In your letter of October 4, 1974, you requested information concerning a schedule for submitting the analysis of the consequences of anticipated transients without scram.

We plan to submit this analysis by April 15, 1975.

The delay in the submittal is caused by severe manpower limitations at General Electric Company, the nuclear steam supply vendor.

That organization was. not able to,proceed on the analyses for Category C plants, such as Nine Mile Point Unit 1, until analyses for the Category B plants were complete.

S. Atomic Energy Commission Page Two October 17, 1974 General Electric is currently evaluating alternative methods of accommodating anticipated transients without scram.

This information will be sent to us by November 15, 1974.

Our review of these alternatives will require about two weeks.

General Electric will initiate the transient analysis based on the selected alternative by December 1, 1974, and complete results will be available to us by April 1, 1975.

Our review of the analysis will require an additional two weeks resulting in the submittal date to you of April 15, 1975.
