Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Uni't 2 Docket No. 50-410
Dear Mr. Stolz:
Your letters of April 18, 1975 and April 21, 1975 requested infor-mation regarding containment hydrodynamic loads and relief valve blowdown phenomena. ) The loading conditions for both og these phenomena are inter-related in that both could potentially affect the structural design of the suppression chamber and internal components.
The initial containment design basis did not specifically identify these transient effects. (A preliminary investigation has revealed that the containment can currently~handle certain aspects of the phenomena, or can be modified to assure that containment integrity is preserved.
An appropriate program and schedule is being developed in conjunction with General Electric Company and other utilities owning Mark II containments.
Because of the scope of this effort, the schedule suggested in your letters apparently cannot be accommodated.
A definitive work schedule is currently in preparation and will be submitted by June 23, 1975.
Very truly yours, NIAGARA MOHAWK POWER CORPORATION Gerald K. Rhode Vice President Engineering
