Dear Mr. O'Beilly:

We had previously informed members of your staff and also the Division of Nuclear Beactor Hegulation personnel of certain geologic features at our Nine Mile Point Unit 2 con-struction site. The first occasion was September 7, 1976 con-cerning a feature in the reheater bay area. The second occasion was in early October regarding another feature in the Cooling Tower excavation. This letter is to confirm those telephone conversations.

We also called on December 2, 1976 to inform you of more recent observations which may suggest possible post-glacial vertical displacement of sediments coincident with a pre -glacial fault.

We are continuing to investigate this feature and will keep you advised of significant findings.
