N1agara tomahawk has recently applied for a provisional operating license to operate the plant.
Its application is currently under review by the DEC's reyQatory

J In answer to one of R". Crawford's questions, fuel may not be installed in the reactor until after the AEC completes
'ts safety evaluation and issues the provisional operating license.
In accordance with the usual practice,
- however, Niagca Nohawk has requested and, received a specia1 nuclear mterial license to store the fuel in th safe-gecrmtry storage racks prior to the issuance of th operating license itself in order to avoid any loss of time.

However, there Xs no requix'e. nt for Moo'era Fhha;>k to acquire and clear additional property beyond that now o~ned by the,cozpany.
Xn issuing a con-struction perrd.t to Magee Mohawk we found their 1500 acre site, which provides a nMhxea exclusion distance of about 4000 feet feen the reactor, to be acceptable.
B~ station buildinm are situated in the w estern quadx~t of a 200 acr cleared area centrally located on the site along the lake shore.
