Dear Mr. Stello:

My October 4, 1976 letter indi,cated that design information regarding recirculation pump trip for Unit 1 would be submitted in June 1977. We under'stand that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is planning to provide guidance 'in August 1977 for recirculation pump trip and the Anticipated Transients Without Scram issue.'n order to incorporate thi,s guidance, we have xevised our schedule for finalizing the 'des'j,gn for recirculation pump trip for Unit 1. As indicated in the >>above-'mentioned letter, a recirculation pump trip is planned fox installation during the next refueling outage, presently scheduled for Fall, 1978.

Six months prior to thiq installati,on, detailed design infor-LIMNI mation and appropriate Technical Specification changes for the recirculation pump trip feature will be provided.
