OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVES
Targeted 1.6% - 1.7% increase in core thermal power, from 3840 MWt to 3902 - 3906 MWt ( ~118.6% of OLTP)

Steam Dryer Structural Integrity CDI completed a stress analysis in 2008 supporting EPU to 3840 MWt. No perforated plate dampening was credited. Minimum alternating stress ratio (MASR) was >2.0.
CDI subsequently identified an error in the acoustic circuit model (ACM) used for calculating the acoustic pressure loading on the steam dryer. CDI revised the steam dryer stress analysis to correct the ACM code error. No perforated plate dampening was credited. MASR was reduced to 1.07.
The NRC reviewed this situation (CAC No. MF7077) and concluded that there was reasonable assurance that the HC steam dryer would maintain structural integrity for continued operation at EPU conditions.
HC steam dryer will maintain structural integrity operating at MUR conditions
Preliminary analysis shows MASR at MUR is approximately 1.04 at the same two locations that were 1.07 at CLTP. These locations are inspectable.
All other locations maintain MASR greater than or equal to 1.10.
HC has completed BWRVIP-139-A inspections during the 6 refueling outages since EPU with no identified fatigue cracking
Moisture carryover since EPU is below acceptable moisture content of 0.10 wt.% and is expected to remain below 0.10 wt.% with MUR, indicating satisfactory dryer performance
Long term inspections of HC steam dryer will continue per NRC approved BWRVIP-139-A guidelines 11
