PUBLIC SALP MEETING WITH PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY (DIABLOCANYON) JULY 8, 1998 This refers to the meeting open to public observation conducted on July 8, 1998, at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PGB E) Community Center in San Luis Obispo, Californi. The meeting was to discuss the NRC's Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP) report issued to PGBE on June 15, 1998. Attendees at the meeting are listed in Enclosure 1 to this letter. Our presentations during the meeting are included in Enclosure 2.
In this meeting, the NRC summarized the findings described in the NRC SALP Report for the Diablo Canyon facility. The NRC presented the SALP Board's perspectives on the licensee's strengths and weaknesses.
The licensee acknowledged the NRC comments and stated its agreement with the findings. The licensee also described its actions for continued improvement in each area.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,",a coy of this letter willbe placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
