On July 22,
- 1997, NRC staff met with a number of PGBE staff from various organizations to discuss issues related to grid stability.
This was a fact finding meeting to gather information for some generic work that the NRC staff is conducting to support Commission interest in the effects of electric industry restructuring and deregulation on grid stability and reliability.
I have received feedback from NRC staff that participated in the meeting and they have indicated that PGBE provided a number of comprehensive presentations during the NRC visit.
Our participants obtained a better understanding of how deregulation will be implemented in California and how specifically PG&E will be affected by the changes which are to be implemented in 1998.
We thank you for your support.
TIle information you provided will help the Commission to better monitor and anticipate the effects of the upcoming changes in the electric industry.
