INTERIM APPROVAL OF ALTERNATIVE TESTING METHOD FOR INSERVICE TESTING PROGRAM RE(UIQEHENT FOR DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT NO.
2 (TAC NO. H89720)
Your June 25, 1994, letter requested temporary relief from -ASHE Section XI cold shutdown full-stroke testing of residual heat removal system check valves
- 8730A, 8730B,
- 8742A, and 8742B until you can perform full-stroke tests during the next Unit 2 cold shutdown.
We approve your requested alternative for an interim period until the next Unit.2 cold shutdown pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(f)(4)(iv).
The approval is authorized by law, will not endanger life or property or the common defense and security, and is otherwise in the public interest, giving due consideration to the burden upon the licensee that could result if the requirements were imposed on the facility.
The enclosed safety evaluation contains our evaluations and conclusions for this issue.
