Mo ill, Chief Operations Branch Date Signed On February 16, 1994 the NRC administered an initial written retake licensing examination to one Senior Reactor Operator upgrade (SROU) applicant at the Diablo Canyon. Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2.
The NRC granted this applicant a waiver for the operating portion of the examination in accordance with the Operator Licensing Examiner Standards, NUREG 1021, revision 7.
The SROU applicant passed the written examination retake and was subsequently issued a Senior Reactor Operator's license.
The licensee's training and operating staffs provided good technical support in the validation of the examination test materials.
They were particularly helpful during the validation reviews of the written examination.
The licensee's support in providing examination reference materials and other logistical assi stance was excellent.

Mritten Test Administration The Chief Examiner reviewed and validated the SRO retake written examination at the Diablo Canyon site on February 1,
1994 with representatives from the licensee's staff.
Examination security was maintained in accordance with NUREG 1021.
On February 16, 1994 the Chief Examiner administered the initial written retake licensing examination to one Senior Reactor Operator upgrade (SROU) applicant at the Diablo Canyon site.
The SROU applicant passed the written examination retake and was subsequently issued a Senior Reactor Operator's license.
The licensee's training and operating staffs provided good technical support in the validation of the examination test materials.
They were particularly helpful during the validation reviews of the written examination.
The licensee's support in providing examination reference materials and other logistical assistance was excellent.
Immediately following the examination the Chief Examiner held a post examination review with the same licensee review team that had previously validated the examination.
The licensee staff stated that they had no further examination comments.
Exit Meetin An exit meeting was held by the Chief Examiner with representatives of the licensee's staff after the post examination review on February 16, 1994 to discuss the examination administration process.
The licensee staff affirmed that they had no further comments on the as given examination and that the test was as validated.
The licensee did not identify as proprietary any of the materials provided to or reviewed by the examiners during the examination.
